Scope and Challenges:
Think Worksafe Ltd was engaged to carry out the recertification of work at height assets at Tontine House, Stoke. The scope covered the inspection, recertification and photography of 4 x eyebolts and 2 x handrail systems located on the main roof, with a report to be provided noting any remedial works required. The scope also included the installation of a walkway and step unit as per the agreed drawing, along with a fitted extension that was approved by the client on the day.
The site is not under CDM control. Access to the roof was by escort from the site contact, who was required to conduct a roof induction before works commenced. Key aspects of the project included:
- All work at height assets were to be inspected and recertified in accordance with BS 7883:2019, BS EN 795 and PD CEN/TS 16415.
- No MEWP was required for this task. Works were classified as recertification on roof safety systems, with working at height competency required.
- Access was subject to an escorted roof induction prior to commencement.


Project Solution
Recertification of Work at Height Assets
The Think Worksafe operative inspected, recertified and photographed the 4 x eyebolts and 2 x handrail systems located on the main roof at Tontine House. The inspections were carried out in accordance with BS 7883:2019, BS EN 795 and PD CEN/TS 16415. A report was to be provided noting any remedial works identified as required.
Walkway and Step Unit Installation
A walkway and step unit were installed on the roof as per the agreed drawing. An extension was fitted during the visit and was approved by the client on the day. On completion, the area was swept, tidied and left in a good state.
Access and Safety
The operative was escorted to the roof area by the site contact prior to commencement. Required PPE throughout included gloves, safety glasses, hi-vis clothing, safety boots and hard hat in line with SSOW00-01. Full equipment for testing eyebolts and lifelines was brought to site by Think Worksafe. The site induction was conducted by the client on arrival in accordance with the RAMS requirements.
Execution Summary:
On-site works were carried out by a technician in a single-day visit. Manager sign-off was provided via the Get Konnected platform.
Key activities carried out on the day included:
- Attended site and reported to site contact for roof induction prior to commencing any works.
- Inspected, recertified and photographed the 4 x eyebolts and 2 x handrail systems on the main roof in accordance with the applicable standards.
- Installed the walkway and step unit as per the agreed drawing.
- Fitted an extension to the installation, which was approved by the client on the day.
- Area swept and tidied on completion, left in a good state.
No extra works were undertaken. Daily activity was recorded via the Get Konnected management system with photographic evidence and manager sign-off logged.

Conclusion
